Valli Vineyards - Central Otago

Valli Vineyards

Valli Vineyards was established by local pioneering winemaker Grant Taylor in the late 1990's, when Grant acquired a near perfect 10 acre block of land at the eastern end of Gibbston, however Grant's first involvement in the area began a decade earlier as winemaker at Gibbston Valley, the original vineyard in the valley.

Notably Grant has been credited with making a number the Central Otago's most awarded wines including Gibbston Valley's 2000 vintage, Bald Hills 2005 and Valli 2010, all of which won major trophies in London.

Driven by an ambition to have great Pinot Noir truly express its individual site, Valli slowly expanded its range of Single Vineyard Pinot Noir to include other sub-regions in Central Otago including Bannockburn, Bendigo and more recently the Waitaki Valley. Viticulture and winemaking is very much hands on with a full time viticulturist managing the Gibbston site and acclaimed winemaker, Jen Parr, now the principal winemaker.

Gibbston is unquestionably the show-case vineyard with closely planted single cordon vines (4040 vine/ha) cropped at a low 1kg/vine ensure perfect ripeness. You can expect these wine to easily cellar and continue to develop for 10+ years.
